Designing a home is one of the most personal journeys a family will ever take. Long before the foundation is poured or the first wall is framed, it begins with a conversation—learning how a family lives, what inspires them, and what they hope their home will become.
Looking back over nearly four decades, I’ve realized that those conversations have given me far more than the opportunity to design beautiful homes. They’ve introduced me to some of the finest people I’ve ever known. Many of my clients have become lifelong friends, and that has been one of the greatest blessings of my career.
That philosophy has guided every project since I founded Kevin Young Designers in 1988. Every home is different because every family is different. My responsibility is to listen, understand, and create a home that feels uniquely theirs.

While working directly with families has always been the most rewarding part of my career, I’ve also believed in giving back to the profession that has given so much to me.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of serving in leadership roles with both the Texas Institute of Building Design (TIBD) and the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD), including serving as President of both organizations. Those experiences allowed me to contribute to the advancement of residential design while continuing to do what I enjoy most—working one-on-one with families to create exceptional homes.
After nearly four decades, I still look forward to that first meeting with a new client.
