Designing a home is one of the most personal journeys a family will ever take. Long before the foundation is poured or the first wall is framed, it begins with a conversation—learning how a family lives, what inspires them, and what they hope their home will become.
For nearly four decades, I have had the privilege of designing custom homes across Texas and beyond. Looking back, those conversations have given me far more than the opportunity to design beautiful homes—they’ve introduced me to some of the finest people I’ve ever known. Many of my clients have become lifelong friends, and that has been one of the greatest blessings of my career.
That philosophy has guided every project since I founded Kevin Young Designers in 1988. Every home is unique because every family is unique. My responsibility is to listen, understand, and create a custom home that feels truly theirs.

Our process is personal, collaborative, and built around understanding how you live today while planning thoughfully for what may come next.
We do not begin with a questionnaire because a form cannot tell us how you live. Instead, we sit down together to learn about your family, your routines, and your hopes for your home. By asking thoughtful questions and listening carefully, we uncover the ideas that will shape a home designed specifically for you.
Once we understand your lifestyle, we begin exploring floor plans, room relationships, and architectural concepts that reflect the way you live. Through sketching and conversation, the design begins to take shape—balancing beauty, function, and the needs of your family both now and in the years ahead.
As the design evolves, we refine each element together—from room proportions and natural light to cabinetry, outdoor living, and architectural character. We also consider long-term resale value, making thoughtful decisions that protect your investment because none of us know what life may bring.
When the design is fully resolved, we prepare a complete set of construction documents for your builder. Our goal is to provide the clarity and precision needed to bring your home to life, while remaining available to answer questions and support the project as it moves toward construction.
